![]() ![]() Talasazan’s lawyer Kirk Schenck tells TMZ that Marvel and Tesfaye “failed to file any trademark application for the use of Starboy for comic books and film/TV projects.” Schenck says he is unsure of why this was the case, but that it would have been the appropriate avenue for signaling their intent to use the word in comics or film and TV. Talasazan also claims that he had already begun collaborating with Stan Lee in 2016 to develop his own Starboy comic. He reports unsuccessfully discussing the idea of a collaboration with Tesfaye’s creative team in 2017, after the 2016 release of Tesfaye’s album of the same name, and after Talasazan’s own alleged filing of the “Starboy” comic hero trademark. ![]() Talasazan alleges that he developed a comic book universe in which R&B and rap stars were superheroes years ago, and consequently filed a trademark for “Starboy,” the comic book hero.
